Playstation 5 is the New Console from Sony Coming in 2020 Holidays

Keeping the legacy, Sony has followed the tradition and has announced that its “next-generation console” will be called the PlayStation 5. The company also accepted that it would be simple for the users to call it a PS5. Though in April Sony had revealed that it is looking forward to selecting a fancy name for the console, it seems that there is nothing that would better suit it than being called PlayStation 5.

Along with the new name, the company has also revealed some details about its new and upgraded controller, which possibly will be called Dualshock 5. The new controller has been incorporated with new haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. The haptic feedback is a replacement for Sony’s rumble technology, which has been there in every console from the fifth generation consoles of the PlayStation.

With the new haptic feedback, the upgraded console will offer a “broader range of feedback.” The new update will make you feel different things in different ways, like the company said in its blog, the crashing on the wall and making a tackle on the football field will feel much different from each other. The upgrade will also make you feel the various textures when running through in the game while playing.

On the other hand,
the adaptive triggers will be installed in the primary R2/L2 triggers
on the PS5’s controller. The new adaptive triggers are programmable
ones, such that the developers can “program the resistance of the
triggers.” As the name suggests, the controller will adapt to the
scenarios in the game, and the players will get to feel the
resistance and the increased tension in their hands through the
controller. The company has already sent the early versions of the
new controller to the creators so that they can make use of its
features for the development of new games.

Sony said in the blog post that when the two features will work together the player will get a beyond realistic experience. The company did not confirm the name of the controller, but as it has given the latest version of the console a similar name, i.e. PlayStation 5, there is a possibility that the new controller will be called the Dualshock 5 as well. Other than these updates, the company has revealed that it will be launching the new PlayStation in the holidays season of the next year. So there is almost a year in between the launch of the new console. And meanwhile, the company will be making frequent about the new features of the console before the launch.

Microsoft and Sony Joins Hands on Cloud-based Streaming for Games and Other Content

Microsoft and Sony have been the biggest rivals with their major consumer interactive entertainment franchises – Xbox and PlayStation. The two tech giants announced on Thursday, that they are seeking to join hands such that Sony will be able to use the Microsoft’s Azure cloud to stream games over it and will participate in the research works along with the latter on Azure, in order to explore its scope for the game and other content streaming. Similarly, the two will be working together in order to develop new image sensors.

“Our mission is to seamlessly evolve this platform as one that continues to deliver the best and most immersive entertainment experiences, together with a cloud environment that ensures the best possible experience, anytime, anywhere. I believe that our joint development of future cloud solutions will contribute greatly to the advancement of interactive content.” Kenichiro Yoshida, President and CEO of Sony, said in a statement.

The partnership between the two can be considered as the prevention for the tough competition, that they may face in the coming future, as Google and Apple both have announced their new game streaming platforms, Stadia and Arcade. Both the game streaming services are expected to be threats for both their contemporaries, Sony and Microsoft. In fact, Apple’s Arcade game streaming service is the world’s first game subscription service for both desktop and mobile, which has already attracted the attention of many and are eagerly waiting for the same.

On the other hand, the other biggest gaming company, Nintendo, has also refurbished its Switch consoles giving a tough competition to the other gaming companies and leaving them behind with their outdated gaming services.

The deal between Sony and Microsoft is still at its early stage, and the two companies, along with developing the image sensors is also planning to work together in the field of semiconductors and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Though the plans look pretty promising, seeing the two rival companies work together will be interesting.

Gamers Need to Wait More Than a Year to Get Their Hands on the Next-generation PlayStation

According to a Wallstreet Journal, Sony through a Q&A session has revealed that the launch of its Next-Generation PlayStation or we simply say PS5 has delayed to more than a year. The launch of PS5 has been the most awaited event, but believing Sony, it won’t occur at least this year, and the delay may extend more than a year.

The company has indicated that it may roll out the Next-Generation PlayStation in summer 2020, most probably in the month of May. This way, the PlayStation fans can expect to get a glimpse of the features of this new gaming console in the upcoming E3 event on June 11 this year.

Noticeably, Sony started talking about PS5 earlier last month, and people also began making guesses on its launch date and the feature it would have. Here, the company gave some hints on the capabilities of the gaming platform, like support for 8K graphics, much-improved 3D audio experience, SSD storage, and compatibility with all the gaming titles of PS4, etc. If we believe on the rumours, the new PS5 will run upon an 8-core, third-gen Ryzen CPU based on AMD’s 7nm Zen 2 architecture.

Also, the console is an improved version of PS4 and has also got the support for Radeon Navi graphics as well as ray tracing. The news of the release of the upcoming PlayStation gaming console had reduced the sales of PS4 to a greater extent. But since the console’s release has been extended, the people who have recently bought their PS4 can take the breath of relief.

Sony announced the news of the delay in the launch while talking about its impressive financial year. Despite the reduced PS4 sales, 2018 was the best financial year for the company, earning some 31.1bn yen from the past year’s console sales, having gained a total of 36.4 million PlayStation Plus subscribers. But still, due to the high manufacturing cost of PS5, the operating profits may fall by 10 per cent for the next quarter.
